WHEN KÁTIA MET AUGUSTA

(Short film - Written and directed by Lud Mônaco)

Easter, 1999. In a quiet and conservative Brazilian town, 12-year-old Kátia is preparing for her third — and hopefully final — attempt at making her First Communion. Raised under the weight of a strict Catholic upbringing, she’s determined to get it right this time. But just as the church bells begin to ring, a disruption arrives: Augusta, a bold new classmate from Barcelona, gifted in painting and known for having freed three lions during a circus show in Spain. Carefree, irreverent, and mysteriously self-assured, Augusta quickly shakes up the status quo. By the end of that Holy Week, what Kátia believed to be sacred may never feel holy again.
